tad: jack pepsi ep
john deere come home.
How can you possibly go wrong with an EP glorifying unsafe alcohol consumption and Wisconsin loner sociopath, Ed Gein ?
Well, you'd better have deep pockets for a start, and not just roomy enough to stash a bottle of Jack Daniels in.
Produced and engineered by Doug Olson and Butch Vig for Sub Pop records, with impeccably entertaining illustration by Peter Bagge and design by Jane Higgins. Pepsi Cola sued both Seattle band, Tad and Sub Pop over the cover design and it was replaced with the John Deere tractor shot above. What a shame. One of the most provocative images of the 90's, I feel.
Especially given the shocking similarity between the Pepsi logo and the South Korean Coat of Arms.
Unfortunately, the copy I own is the reissue. Then again, it was a gift so who's complaining ? Great teenage loser anthems, too.

Tad were the best of all the bands from Washington in those days. Got to see them a couple times. Pepsi is bad for you.
I've never had the pleasure of seeing them live, but these days I loathe having to stand in a sea of people without even the nicotine comfort of a cigarette - since they banned smoking in public places here.
The fact that they allow you to purchase alcohol at exorbitant rates adds insult to injury.
Rosa and I went to a gig at The Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow which was all seating and very pleasant. What an old fart I've become.
I find it interesting that Tad is virtualy unknown here. In fact, I heard about them from the UK music press. This is the first time I've heard them.
Tad is still going, the man not the band, but he was always a band shaped man..http://taddoyle.blogspot.com/
The famous sub pop tour of the UK with Mudhoney and Nirvana showed us all what Mr Beer N Hockey states, that Tad, on their day, could blow them all away!...amazing act! along with early L7 and Dickless, Babes in Toyland...all superb!!! but Tad was cuddly too...bonus BBQ points there!
great post xx
Thanks, LV; for the comment and the link. Nice supporting list you provide too... I haven't thought on Babes in Toyland for a long, long while.
By the way, I love your avatar - or character, or whatever. Consider yourself well and truly linked!
