By the same token, though, I can't completely shake that unhealthy fetish for early Paul Gadd & Mike Leander proto-punk production; a glam chant straight off the terraces and onto a battery eating transistor radio. Even our school teachers warned us there was something decidedly unsavoury about Gary. God bless them. One glimpse of him oozing out of his lamé sequined suit on Top Of The Pops was all that was required for them to deduce that something deeply sinister was afoot, albeit in a pair of outsize platform boots.
And to think his jailbreak was strictly legal.

Agreed. Thin Lizzy are one of those groups which get way under your skin, in spite of the sometimes pitifully bombastic imagery and cartoon posing.
They had a great sound. J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr, I feel, was especially open to the guitar side of the band; Jake Burns's Stiff Little Fingers, too.
Great blog, but that ain't a photo of the Beatles' famed 1969 roof-top concert. Looks to be from early in their careers when they wore matching suits, and that appears to be a wooden stage they're standing on. Shot probably taken from lighting/scenery bars overhead. Groove on!
