ronnie lane: debris

camden lock market, london. photograph by jodi cobb.

Written and sung with smaller faced aplomb by the great Ronnie Lane. Quite the best thing on this album, I believe.

Co-produced by Glyn Jones.

FACES: DEBRIS from "A Nod Is As Good As A Wink... To A Blind Horse" LP (Warner Bros.) 1971 (UK)

The only ‘Debris’ available at Camden Market these days is overpriced made in Japan rubbish manufactured for tourists. Even the so called ’Lefty’ stalls are rip off merchants. The halcyon days of the late seventies and early eighties are long gone. AVOID.

A great shame, but wholly believable. The last time I set foot in Camden Market was around 1984, and even then it was still a lot of fun.

For a truly grim exercise in real junk and debris, try visiting "Paddy's Market" in the Glasgow Trongate; most of the 'stuff' plied is of course a front for the sale of contraband goods, but you will still find many people picking through the detritus for bargains.

Fancy a pair of unwashed second-hand knickers ? You got it! There's three in that puddle over there, love...

Thanks for the comment and the advice!
