"For eleven January evenings in 1973, the Morroccan sitar of Lula Cortes and the
12-string of Lailson de Holanda Cavalcanti haunted the northeastern shores of Brazil.
When the fire died down and the body finally cut loose
the duo went their separate ways."
- Big B.
Lailson was from the verdant former Dutch colony of Pernanbuco,
while Côrtes hailed from the wild badlands of Paraiba."

Where on earth did you dig this one up mate? Great stuff. Like John Fahey on a fado trip.
The credit is by no means mine; follow the link back to Art Decade where Big B pulled a post from the archives earlier today.
A timely reminder, I too was amazed the first time I heard a track from this LP. The album was first reissued in 2005 on Time-Lag, and is something of a classic. I just delved into some other pieces in the wake of Big B's (2nd) post.
Amazing shit. John Fahey is an interesting comparison! Fado is a new one on me...
I had to look it up.
Hey ib,
Just noticed this post. Thanks for the props. The Fahey comparison is spot on. How I'd love to be able to chill to this album on some far off beach...
Let me tell you, Big B, the picture you paint in those few lines of text is more seductive than any corporate tourist agency...
Thanks again for the reminder. Incredible album.
